Closing In On the Goal

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

Closing In On the Goal     It’s been three months since I started on the ITG Diet. Back at the end of August, I weighed 217 pounds, had a 36 inch waist, and felt generally unhealthy overall. I didn’t eat well, sleep well, and my body didn’t feel so great day to day. I was getting tired of buying large shirts and wearing baggy clothes all the time; nothing seemed to fit right on me. I didn’t feel good about myself or the way I looked anymore. There were many times I would glance at my reflection in a store window or a mirror and think to myself, “who is this guy? What happened to the old me?”

Goal – Hot & Sexy Halloween Costume ... Check!!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

hot-and-sexy-halloween-costume-check      Ok, I will admit these may not be the hottest, sexiest costumes out there, but Miss Muffet was pretty risqué, even for me.  Little Miss Muffet was a loaner costume from a girlfriend and the 80’s costume was for a Bunco costume party earlier in the month.  When I was shopping for my 80’s outfit I tried on a costume that was one size fits all.

What’s All This Garbage about Detox?

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

Detox Herbs We have read and seen it until we are sick.  It is almost as bad as political campaign ads! (Notice I said, “Almost!”)  What is the big deal about detoxification?  Why is it so important? Actually, there is some reasonable truth to getting the toxins out of our body.  After all, this is how Mother Nature works, take nutrients in and get rid of the toxins.

Ok then, we should all go out and buy 12 detox books, 47 detox supplements, maybe a gas powered Vitamix, join a detox group, start a small organic co-op, and build a small detox shrine in our garage, right?  Seems like a lot of the detox programs demand that much, don’t they?

Detox can be very simple and that is the best way because simple is easy to start and easy to sustain.

I Am So Happy with The ITG Diet Plan!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

pat-young       If I can do this diet anyone can.  My daughter Tina is my coach.  She inspired me when she lost over 30 pounds, so I thought I can too.  My weight got so high I didn’t like looking in the mirror.  The first of March I got pneumonia and lost 10 pounds so I decided now is the time to start.  So far I have lost 45 pounds!  My husband is so happy!  I have never been able to stick with a diet.  My husband cooks recipes off the ITG website for us for dinner.  I am never hungry.  I went to a consignment shop and got a couple of knee pants, I have very few pants that fit any more.

FAT WEIGHS HEAVY ON LIBIDO!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

Libido     We all know that excess weight has many health detriments and that lower weight is much healthier. Now, the newest information is that excess weight kills your libido. Yes, the one last, free, fun activity is in danger because of our diet and eating habits. Can you imagine putting down the Twinkie because you would like to have sex tonight? Now, I am not saying that starting a diet will help you to get great sex anytime you want it! What I am saying is that it surely won’t hurt and may very well help.

When all else fails go for the big guns!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

tina-itg-diet-weight-loss     Check out this text I got from my son Travis. “Hey your diet is no carbs, no sugar right?”  I replied,  Low carbs, low sugar.   Our next phone conversation I asked him what all the diet questions were about.    He said there is a girl at his work that was talking about being on a diet and he tried to talk diet talk with her.  ITG diet talk, poor kid he hasn’t even been around since February and he is even preaching ITG!  The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  After trying to fight the diet fight, you know the one when the person you are talking to tells you that they know what they need to do to lose weight, and back in the day they lost so many pounds and blah blah blah.  He finally realized he couldn’t out talk a girl on a diet.

Why Sucralose Makes Sense?

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

what-is-sucroloseITG has small amounts of sucralose in many of its products yet you can easily complete the program without ingesting any sucralose at all… because we have over 20 delicious products that contain absolutely no sucralose.  Our product variety philosophy includes a sucralose policy just like it includes a gluten free policy a limited carbohydrate policy a kosher policy and allergy policies.  In other words, ITG has a healthy way to complete our weight loss program for most people who have special dietary needs.  We’re aware that some of you may not be able to tolerate certain ingredients so we’ve been careful to provide a variety of foods for your convenience.  Just go to https://www.itgdiet.com/contact if you have ingredient questions.

Determination

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

diet-determination  It’s 9am Friday, and today is my check-in day. I just stepped off the TANITA scale in the office and I’m holding off on looking at the little slip of paper that the scale prints. It gives you a read-out of your weight, calculates body water and fat percentages, bone mass, visceral fat (the kind that wraps like a band around your organs and can be hard to get rid of), and BMI. After a less than perfect week, I was really hoping I had turned things around and made some progress this time.

Setbacks!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

Obstacles-JP-New-BlogDuring the second week of my ITG Diet I didn’t lose as much as I was planning on. I was down 1.2 lbs in 6 days. It’s still a loss, yes, but I could have done much better than that. Even though I stuck to the diet just about every day, I went out and had a few items I shouldn’t have eaten over the weekend. I also did not drink nearly enough water, and I found myself not feeling very hungry and skipping some meals altogether. I was out late over the weekend, which threw my entire meal schedule off. On Friday, Tina (wellness coach at ITG Diet) and I talked about the upcoming weekend and how hard it is to be at home or go out and stick to a plan at the same time…boy, did I experience it! We are kind of lucky here at the office…you see, during the week while we’re working at the ITG Diet office, we are a great support system to each other. We have veggies for snacks, we talk about healthy food and recipes all day, and of course no one is bringing Burger King or pizza in to the office for their lunch break! During our days off, we all need to find that same motivation and have a plan in place.

Understanding Organic Food Claims

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

understanding-organics Are organic foods really better for us?  Do they taste better?  How do they really compare to conventionally grown foods?  The mainstream concept of organic foods makes sense… that you should only eat those foods that are not grown with manmade and potentially toxic chemicals.  Yet I have to wonder why someone would be healthier if they ate food sprayed with fresh organic green manure rather than food that was treated with conventional manmade products.

Excited to start the ITG Diet

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

ready-to-dietI’m getting ready to start the ITG Diet next week…and even though I know I’ll be cutting out some of the things I love to eat and drink, I’m so excited to see how well this diet works for me! I was in the restaurant industry for quite some time, and as a manager, we were allowed to eat whatever we wanted, every single day…for free! It sounds like a dream, but in the past 4 years, I have gone from a 32” waist and 175 pounds to a 36” waist and 225 pounds.

My experience with Hot Flashes and the ITG Diet...

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

laurel-beatty-itg-diet Several years ago I was on the ITG Diet..  The typical menopausal female..   Hot Flashes during the day, hot and cold sweats at night, irritability, lack of sleep… okay, maybe even a little “bitchy”…    After three weeks of being on the program the hot flashes were basically Gone.. Wow..  That is when Dr. John explained what I was going through..  Fast forward several years…   Now I notice that when I have too many carbs.. i.e… a couple glasses of wine, pizza, pasta or too many sweets.. that night I will have some mild hot flashes…    So in my case what I have learned is that carbs and sugars are directly related to my hot flashes.  For me, this is such a gift to be able to control them..   And yes, I did lose 20 pounds on the program and have maintained my weight.  I do a tune up about twice a year..   As I say, Keep that line in the sand..   if I gain back just a few pounds I get back on Step 1 of the diet..  And it works..   I am happier and healthier..  Even though I’m on the back side of 55, I feel much younger.

Weight Loss Controls Hot Flashes

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

weight-loss-and-hotflashes     There is, for the most part, a definitive association between less weight, less obesity and lower incidences of hot flashes.  Hot flashes go by the official name of Thermoregulatory Flushing and are associated with feeling very hot, profuse sweating and flushing of the skin, which is part of the body’s natural heat regulating mechanism.  The problem is that this natural heat regulation during menopausal hot flashes is somewhat out of control.

Studies show that women with higher body mass index, meaning they are overweight or obese have worse hot flashes.  Research shows that weight loss provides an immediate effect by reducing hot flashes.  It’s also been shown that women who lose weight are twice as likely to have a reduction in hot flashes.  In one study, women were 1/3 more likely to have less symptoms for every eleven pounds lost.  A ketonic body diet is designed to help you lose those pounds, safely and very quickly.

Who needs to detox? I Do!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

detox-for-diet       My son was home for 21 days before moving to his first duty station in England.  Needless to say I wanted to make all his favorite dishes before he left.  This was not a good 21 days for my diet but I wouldn’t trade them for anything!  The 5-7 pounds I gained was well worth the good times we had while I gained them….but now that he is gone and getting situated at his new home I need to get back to taking care of me, and that starts with Detox!

Old Tina costume                                             New Tina costume

Not if you want a Hot Halloween costume it’s not!

I’ve always had to have costumes that were big to hide my fat.  This year is going to be different!  This year I want to find a hot, tighter fitting costume. LOL! I have been searching online for the perfect costume to order but I just can’t decide.  Any ideas?   I still have 16 pounds to lose to reach my final goal weight of 123.  I can’t believe I am really almost to my ideal body weight, what an amazing feeling it is and I’m not even there yet but I can see the light at the end of this weight loss tunnel.  Join me on this 3 month journey to lose my last 16 pounds which is an average of 1.6 pounds per week.  This is going to be a tough goal for me to reach…I’m going to have to really work at it!  Wish me luck!

Already lost a total of 41lbs in 22 weeks!

Great Ways to Stay Motivated and on Track During Summertime!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

Happy-4th      When you’re packing your gear for the beach, starting up your grill or doing something else fun this summer, you might feel a lack of motivation in sticking to your diet/healthy lifestyle. The good news is summertime is the best season for fresh vegetables and opportunities to exercise outdoors.

These five ideas will help you stick to your healthy lifestyle change and goals:

Enjoy Fresh, Fun Outdoor Meals

Summer is a great time to have a picnic. You can put blankets in your backyard for an al fresco meal. For a picnic in the park, you can pack a wide variety of crunchy vegetables, chilled soups, a big salad, and a protein/cold cut lettuce wrap.

And while you're at it, why not prepare a refreshing ITG beverage to enjoy with your meal? While on Step One, serve our Wild Berry Drink Mix or Strawberry Banana Shake. After your meal, play an outdoors game with your family or friends; it's a great way to squeeze in some exercise after a meal, get in touch with nature, and socialize.

GOALS!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

What Are Your Goals?     Last night I saw an old friend that I haven’t seen in a while.  She had heard through mutual friends about my weight loss success, but this is the first time she saw my transformation with her own eyes.  She asked the first question everyone asks, “How did you do it?”  I proceeded to tell her about the program.  She was very interested because, of course, she is on a “program” of her own, to lose weight fast (what woman isn’t?).   And she wanted to see how ITG compared to her “program.”  I get this all of the time, at first I get excited to help someone else feel the way I feel about myself and my success, then they start talking about why they couldn’t succeed on the ITG Diet.  Excuses.  First of all, most people use the cost as a crutch why they couldn’t succeed.  And the other top excuse I get is, I couldn’t stop drinking.

Second Hand Health!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

mothers health

I arrived at my mother’s house about 1:30 to start prep work for our Mother’s Day healthy dinner.  Darel, my step-father jumped up to help.  He was slicing cucumbers for us to have for snacks while we played Chicken Foot, my new favorite domino game.  While we were playing he mentioned that he was experiencing a problem with his vision, it was kind of blurred.  I was very concerned and immediately started drilling him with questions.  Do you need to check your blood sugar?  Blood pressure?  Blurred vision is not something to mess around with, especially with a type 2 diabetic with heart stents.  He checked his blood pressure and it was extremely low 88/45.  He takes high blood pressure medication daily.  We put a call in to his Cardiologist to let him know what was going on and for him to advise us on any further action.  When the doctor called back and spoke to Dad he immediately started asking questions, just like I had.  This is when he told the doctor that he has changed his diet recently.  He quit eating fruit, started eating more veggie and healthy dinners.  The doctor told him this could be the culprit of this low blood pressure.  He advised him to only take one half of his high blood pressure medication the following day and follow up with his primary doctor.

Shout out to my Mom for Mother's Day!

Posted by on in ITG Diet Weight Loss Blog

mothers day Last week I experienced some great news.  My mother wanted to start ITG Diet!  She has seen 30 pounds fall off of me by just changing my eating habits, and she was ready to give it a try.  After the initial excitement wore off I began to realize I would be her Wellness Coach.  My excitement feeling changed to a bitter sweet feeling when I realized her success depends on me coaching or teaching her the program and her following my instructions (listening to me).  I have no problem coaching strangers and giving them some “tough love”, but my Mom? I know that weight loss will improve her health and will make her feel better.  So I just have to bite the bullet and Coach her as a dieter, not my Mom. (yeah, right)

Some of her first weeks comments about being on ITG Diet and my reply in red.
